Fit Review: lululemon Hotty Hot HR Skirt & Court Rival HR Skirt

lululemonReviews

Just like I was a CRB-only tank top snob for several years, the only lulu skirt I’ve ever had any loyalty to has been the Pace Rival. I’ve got… 5 of them?

I *did* have 2 Circuit Breakers at one point in time, but once the Pace Rival came out with POCKETS in the shorts, the CBs moved on to happy new homes via resale.

I admittedly haven’t experienced the Court Rival hype for myself yet, and given the Hotty Hot is new to all of us… into the try on pile both of them went!

Sizing Notes: I’m 5’9″ – in lululemon, I am a TTS 8 on top and a 10 on the bottom.

I saw a Reddit fit photo yesterday of a Race length Swiftly on a girl who made it look like the full length does on me. MUST BE NICE. 😐 That said, I opted for the long options in both skirts because, you know, I’m not short.

Hotty Hot HR Skirt *Long ($78) in Raspberry Cream

Alright lulusphere, it’s a new item and the world needs to know what it looks like on an average person! Here goes.

FWIW: There’s nothing raspberry about Raspberry Cream. It’s orange before it’s pink.

The good news is the shorts have phone pockets in them. The bad news is that the good news (for me) stops there.

The “high” rise in the Hotty Hot Short has always been an inch or two shy of what I’d like a high rise to be, and the skirt fits the same way. It comes up to the same spot a “mid” rise Speed Up Short does.

Because it falls a little lower toward my hip, that means it’s an overall wider look, and it looks like I’m wearing a square. The waistband rests so that there’s a puff of fabric drawing focus right to my lower abdomen, which I’m a little self-conscious of.

I appreciate that lulu is branching out with new skirt styles, but I struck out on this one.

TL:DR

Likes: Color, pockets in the shorts
Dislikes: High rise not high enough, fabric balloons out right at the pooch
Sizing: TTS
Did I buy it? No
Why Not? Unflattering silhouette. Easy pass.

Court Rival Skirt *Long ($88) in Pastel Blue

I like to think I’m a girly girl but at the same time I’m not like a GIRLY GIRL. But… judging by my face I had way too much fun with this one.

I’m trying to figure out where in my wardrobe this would fit in. I felt like a happy little girl in her dance costume, and I have half a mind to pick up a black one. It’s so FUN but I’m not quite sure if it’s practical for me.

TL:DR

Likes: Flouncy happy YAY, higher waist than the Hotty Hot
Dislikes: not many
Sizing: True to Size
Did I buy it? No
Why Not? You think I can keep pastel blue clean?! Hahahahaha
