What to do when you find yourself with a random Wednesday off from work in Detroit? LULULEMON, ofc. First stop quiche & coffee, second stop – try on all the lululemon with a full stomach so I feel kind of gross and hopefully spend less money? It’s called lululemon tourism, look it up.

Sizing Notes: I’m 5’9″ – in lululemon, I am a TTS 8 on top and a 10 on the bottom.

Scuba Oversized Funnel Neck Half-Zip ($118) in Smoky Red

The mulled wine / medium burgundy seems to be a good color for me, and, well… Gen Z lululemon junkies are HYPE on the roomy Scuba half zips.

Given their intentionally boxy design, both of these Scuba half-zips are available in 3 sizes: XS/S, M/L, and XL/XXL. I’m wearing M/L in both this and the hoodie below.

Right off the bat, I’ve got to give an A+ to Smoky Red as a color. As always, anything with Scuba in the name is going to make you want to turn into a couch blob the second you throw it on. The funnel neck is no different.

It’s a lot of fabric, though. From my chest up, I felt all nice and warm. Below that, I felt a breeze. Another thing is I don’t always love zip-ups that brush my face. It’s fun to hide in a high collar, but unless you’re going to wash it frequently (be honest with yourself), makeup and potential acne-causing bacteria could set up camp and cause problems. Think maskne.

TL:DR

Likes: Cozy feel, Beautiful color.
Dislikes: Felt lost inside, worried about getting makeup inside the collar when zipped.
Sizing: Spot on, if the oversized trend is your jam.
Did I buy it? No
Why Not? A little too much sweatshirt for me.

Scuba Oversized Half-Zip Hoodie ($118) in Heathered Pink Taupe

AsI mentioned before, the choice to bring this one in was purely based on Gen Z hype. Not my color choice, but it’s the only one they had in my size.

Agh, looking back on these photos, I like it more than I remember feeling when I had it on. Pretty much all the same notes as the Funnel Neck above, but add a hood. There was too much fabric in the sleeves, and that’s coming from a tall person who usually LOVES a little bonus length.

TL:DR

Likes: Cozy feel, nicely sized hood
Dislikes: Bunchy sleeves if you need your hands
Sizing: Spot on
Did I buy it? No
Why Not? Kind of liked, didn’t love.

  1. Thanks for the review! I have been wanting to try these but so many negative factors. They look cute from the front but from the side they just look too big.

  2. Have you tried the scuba oversized full zip? I think those are the best fit out of the 3! The full zip makes them more “functional” in my honest opinion. But thanks for the reviews!!!

  3. I have one of each. I love them but it’s true about the funnel neck. It’s cute zipped up but then it looks weird to have it laying flat (to me). It looks better standing up but then gets make up on it and needs washing more frequently. One pro: it is easier to wear under a winter jacket. No big hood to deal with along with another hood on a coat.

I prefer the hooded version but the big hood pulls it back and I find I am pulling it down a lot to cover my front.

They are both cute and I wear them but cropped hoodies aren’t as warm and cozy.
