5 Faves & a Dud: 9/24/19 Edition

There are SO MANY articles out there that extol the virtues of waking up and getting your workout done in the morning. Something about starting your day with a bunch of endorphins, a sense of accomplishment and loads of free time to do whatever you want after work.

Well. I ran 5 miles before work this morning. Endorphins, check. Accomplishment, check. Free time to go to the mall after work? Check. EXPENSIVE CHECK. Guess who came home with new threads from both Athleta AND Lululemon?

5 Faves & a Dud: 9/24/19 Edition

Favorite #1: Wander Stash Skinny Pant ($108) in Black

This week’s numero uno was the no brainer at Athleta this evening. I wear the bejesus out of my Headlands Hybrid Cargo Tight, and I’ve already had to repair them once. My only gripe about my otherwise favorite tights were that they had the weather-resistant nylon on the front panel, but they are showing some sueding where I’ve sat on my fair share of rough surfaces (read: curbs, concrete blocks and floors).

The winning quality in the Wander Stashes is that they are the same nylon as the HHC, but 360. With the flat Sculptek waist band like my fave jeans and a zip fly & button closure to make them a bit more polished looking, there is no question that I will get my money’s worth out of these tights.

Favorite #2: Foresthill Ascent Top ($74) in Torch Red

See photos above and more cheesin’ below. Color description says torch red, but IMHO it’s undeniably orange, and I love it. For being a wool blend, it’s surprisingly light. The hip length is perfect for wearing mid-rise pants like the Wander Stashes, or any of your favorite denim.

There are perforations in the back to allow you to breathe when you get warm, so keep in mind with whatever you layer underneath. I’m wearing a black Lululemon Energy Bra *Braided underneath for reference in the center photo. It’s crazy and orange and fun and I love it ok?

Favorite #3: Energy Bra ($52) in Honeycomb

Down the hall we go to lululemon. I didn’t see this one in my local store tonight, but HELLO bright color that would look amazing underneath the aforementioned Athleta top.

I am not above mixing brands. Am I really going to place an online order just an hour after getting home from the store with a new jacket? Possibly.

Favorite #4: Sculpt Tank ($58) in True Red

Exsqueeze me but I need a little confirmation from you hawk-eyed ladies out there. I don’t trust my computer monitor. Is this the OG Sculpt Tank fit back again but WITHOUT mesh on the top part of the back panel?

If so, I am so incredibly here for its modified return and it’s a “shut up and take my money” situation. If there’s mesh, then I need to get my eyes checked and go into my closet and wear the exact same True Red OG Sculpt Tank that I already own. I’ve always liked the I better than the II. That keyhole in back is money.

Favorite #5: Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve Crew ($78) in Emerald

The styling irks me, but the color is amazing. To get the fitted torso look, you can tell by the pulling in the lulu emblem in the back that the model was jammed into a Swiftly that’s 1-2 sizes too small for her awesomely jacked shoulders. The color, though. Here for this gem tone.

The Dud: Pave New Ways Full Zip ($128) in Black/White

Speaking from experience because I tried it on tonight. Boxy fit, not many pockets/features, and the worst part? The sleeve openings. If you wear a watch, you’re going to have a bad time.

Because the fabric is thicker and the fit is roomy, there’s a lot to gather up at the end of each arm, and it hit RIGHT where my watches are. It was distracting, and made this sweatshirt an easy pass for me. Admittedly cozy though, and honestly it looks relaxed and cute. The bulky cuffs, though. They annoy me for annoying me and for killing the enjoyment of an otherwise desirable blanket burrito simulator.

From the Soap Box

It’s otherwise a pretty underwhelming upload on the lululemon side of things. Expected, given that next week is the first of the month, so this OBTW section is going to be pretty short. Anything else worth a mention? Yes.

I also bought myself a pile of Nespresso, restocked on makeup at MAC and may or may not have gotten a shiny item for myself for my birthday that I now need to NOT OPEN for another week and a half. Let’s see how that goes.

Walked out of lululemon with the Far and Free Jacket today, though 🙂

  1. Honeycomb is bomb, but like Honey Lemon, I don’t think it would jive well with my very pale skin tone. I love it on the model, though!

P.S. Rakuten has 15% cash back at LLL right now!
