Welcome to January, where the skies are gray and so are my feelings about any and everything. As the human equivalent of a houseplant, I need sunlight or else I will wither up into something pathetic, crunchy and dry.
Wunder Puff Cropped Vest ($228) in Sonic Yellow
While I didn’t need another puffer vest in the practical sense of the word, seasonal depression kicks my butt annually. I spent the fall admiring other pieces from the Wunder Puff collection from afar in winter gem tones like Everglade Green & Pomegranate. Sensibility won out, until…

lululemon hit us with Sonic Yellow. I immediately hit lululemon with the “Add to Cart” and ultimately ponied up $228. If the sky won’t show me the sunshine, figured I’d go get it myself in the form of a bright and happy piece that makes me smile every time I look at it.
We’ve had fakeouts in years past (ahem, I’m looking at you, soleil). The 2018 SeaWheeze capsule featured a Sonic Yellow Swiftly, and IMHO it was the perfect yellow. It *is* the perfect yellow, and this shade eluded us for years, until now. The only other place it popped up was in that Roksanda collab in 2019.
This is the first Wunder Puff Item I’ve owned, and I am *impressed* with how warm it is. The vest surely lives up to its name and feels like wearing a marshmallow.
My *only* gripe is that it’s so puffy, that it’s next to impossible to wear the ubiquitous Everywhere Belt Bag in the trendy over-the-shoulder way on top of the vest without loosening the strap significantly first. Aside from that, this vest is the perfect pop of color and coziness during this cold and miserable time of year.
Not to mention, Sonic Yellow makes sense from a safety perspective. You’re easy to spot in a crowd, or on the side of the road if you’re out walking Fido before work or after dinner. I always go through my neons first during the winter months, because the last thing I need to do is blend in when drivers eyes are struggling to figure out which shade of gray is sky, and which is pavement.
As of this post’s writing, Sonic Yellow and Psychic are still full price, but Everglade Green, Faded Zap and Grenadine Red are marked down to $139 on WMTM.
TL:DR
Likes: Color, Warmth
Dislikes: Gets in the way of my EBB (this is very small peanuts)
Sizing: True to size
Features: Removable Hood (snaps), Zip Closure
