5 Faves & a Dud: Introducing Contour Fit

5 Faves & a Dudlululemon

How much caffeine is in a Starbucks Venti Black Tea Lemonade? Asking for a friend who drank one for funsies at 4:30p. TBD how much past her bedtime this friend will be awake. Ahahaha that friend is me.

As we all know, lululemon goes heavy on the first upload of the month. This week’s excitement most notably introduces a “Contour Fit” variation of the Wunder Train Tight & Shorts at several lengths, so I’m going to touch on that first.

What is lululemon’s Contour Fit?

Per lululemon, Contour Fit is “Snug support in the waistband, more room through the hips and thighs. Embrace your strength in this curve-hugging new fit, available in Wunder Train.”

Contour Fit has even shown up as an additional column on the official size chart, and the size 10 measurements are now a lot closer to my ACTUAL body measurements. With Contour Fit, the waistband is 0.5″ smaller, and there is 1.75″ more allowance in the hips across the board. The only exception is a size 6, with the waist listed a full inch smaller, at 26″ instead of 27″

I’ve seen a ton of feedback on how the Wunder Train Shorts’ seams really dig into women’s thighs. I’m glad to see that lululemon is taking that “I feel like a sausage” feedback and making improvements. I’m excited to hunt a pair down give them a try. I was thinking about a no buy April after the March landslide but… RESEARCH AMIRITE?

Aaaaaand NOW it’s time for the main event… aka my (mostly) highlighter-lookin’ faves.

5 Faves & a Dud: 4/5/22 Edition

Favorite #1: Align™ High-Rise Crop 21″ in Poolside

The 21″ inseam may not be my first choice, but color trumps cut. This is the only Align item released in Poolside this week, which is giving major Amalfi Blue.

I envision if this ever comes out in an Align Tank, it will be COVETED. Hell, if it comes out in a high-neck version, even I may bite. Fingers crossed for more next week.

Favorite #2: Perfectly Oversized Cropped Crew Softstreme in Peach Satin

Little did I know that one uncharacteristic Spiced Chai Swiftly would eventually lead me to buying (and loving) Mink Berry Blissfeels… and now this. Another muted pink-ish item. WHO AM I?!

Favorite #3: Track That Mid-Rise Lined Short 5″ in Love Red

I’ve admittedly peeped over at Free People’s activewear line, and like the high-waisted look of the Way Home Shorts. To keep it in the lululemon family, I feel like these are worth a try to see if I can mimic the look. Except the FP Movement shorts are $30 and these are lulu prices. Joke’s on me?

Favorite #4: Lightweight Half-Zip Track Pullover in Blazer Blue Tone

Favorite #5: Free to Be Elevated Bra Light Support in Love Red

No wordy explanation… I just like it. 🙂

The Dud: Relaxed-Fit Gathered Cropped Jacket

Gathering is generally used to accentuate someone’s figure, but somehow this manages to do the opposite. The gathering point is a bit high on the bodice, so it’s a little windbreaker meets muumuu for me. My reaction isn’t full Chrissy Teigen gif… but this could be fast tracked to WMTM if others feel the same way.

And now, I present to you a handful of items I’ve just got… QUESTIONS about.

Pinterest But Not… aka the rest of this week’s highlights

Don’t think that the fact a hip length racerback has snuck in isn’t lost on me. So what we’re saying is maybe I *shouldn’t* crop all my 2014 CRBs?

  1. Intrigued by the Contour Fit. I’m a weight lifter, so having more room in the butt + thighs could be a really good thing for me. I ordered my usual size and will see. I am not sure about having the waist tighter (I hate anything that digs in, so I primarily lift in Aligns), but sizing up would have given me too much room in the hips according to the size chart. So…. we will see! Will report back. Also bought the Aligns in Poolside. I hope the color doesn’t show off too many bumps, but the color is so amazing I’m trying not to care. 😛

    1. OK follow up. Contour Fit is a dud for me. I’m a relatively slender person with a small waist and weight lifter glutes and thighs. The waist on the Contour Fit was a little tight in my TTS and the fabric is just thick. The calves were also tight. Did not like. I wear a 4 in Lulu tights + 6 in non-biker style shorts, and I bought a 4 in these. They went back. 🙁

      1. Doh, that’s too bad. I LOOOVE them and haven’t been able to take them off since getting them. Didn’t have any of the issues you noted, just goes to prove why different fits are needed, we’re not all built the same 🙃
