5 Faves & a Dud: Oh Hello There

5 Faves & a Dudlululemon

Hi everyone! Did I mean to take a month off? No. Did it happen? Yes. Whoops. Life decided to start looking like 2019 again, and since the last 5FD I’ve managed to go from CT > MA > CT > NY > CT > NV > CA > NV > CT. So that’s been fun… and exhausting. Got some new lululemon though! The Power Thru Tank Top (OMG LOVE) and I gave some of those MicroPillow Tab Run Socks a go because I was desperate. Threw my deep sock thoughts into a TikTok:

5 Faves & a Dud: 7/27/21 Edition

Well I guess it’s time to scan on through the What’s New page, and welp… I chose a weak week to resurface from the abyss. I should know better. The first upload of the month is always the strongest showing, and next week is going to be August 2nd. So yeah. Let’s see how this goes.

Favorite #1: Power Thru Tank Top ($58) in Black

This is my first piece in lululemon’s more rugged fabric. I’m almost inclined to do a bunch of burpees in the dirt just to see what happens. Do I want to see if it will wreck my shirt? Yes. Do I want to actually wreck my new shirt? No. Do I buy a second just for experimental purposes? You tell me.

As far as sizing goes, I went with my tried and true size 8 and it fits perfectly. Currently drooling over Regatta Blue if I end up ordering another.

Favorite #2: Simply Effortless Jacket ($128) in Wheat Yellow

I’m about 92% sure I’d make this look like I *was* Ms. Frizzle’s magic school bus if I were to attempt to rock this jacket. HOWEVER. There has got to be someone out there who will look fabulous in this color, and for her I must highlight it… no bright yellow pun intended.

Favorite #3: Sun Setter High Rise Jogger Full Length ($118) in Red Merlot

Given that the Black ones have sold out in all sizes except 0, lululemon’s got to be doing something right with these. Cue FOMO! I’m home for the next few weeks and I haven’t gotten mail from lululemon in a while…

Favorite #4: LA Front Cut-Out Crop Top ($58) in Dark Red

I don’t quite understand what the cutout in the front is there for, but the model makes this top look so phenomenal, suddenly I’m wondering if I need a red crop top with a front cut out. That’s what you call an A+ in merchandising.

Favorite #5: Speed Up Low-Rise Short 2.5″ ($58) in Symphony Blue

Here for the color. As for the length – honest question. Is anyone out there still buying 2.5″ Speed Ups at the rate we all snatched up the original Speed Shorts? I’m team 4″ FO’ LYFE.

The Dud: Marble Dye Silky French Press

I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH STEEZ TO PULL THIS OFF. IMHO, it’s like a bunch of chocolate chips melted and you somehow managed to roll around in them. I say this because if I know one thing it’s about how to get chocolate all over the place.

What exactly are we doing here?

To Tie Dye For?

Can’t deny that tie dye is having a moment, and who am I, (the one who’s been rocking tie dyed Brooks running shoes for the last two years) to turn my nose up? I don’t necessarily love all of the most recent offerings, but there are several to choose from.

In other news, I think hitting excessive amounts of golf balls has given me a version of shin splints and I start training for the San Diego Rock & Roll Half Marathon in exactly 6 days so if you need me I’ll be on a couch somewhere with an ice pack on. WOOOOOOO it’s so much fun to get old!

  1. Nope, all I buy is the 4″ SU (fellow tall girl here at 5’10), and I wish they would try to get creative with patterns again. I know they do here and there, but they just aren’t anything like the amazing prints of 2013-2016

    1. Or even just the complementary details! One of my favorite pairs of OG Speeds is a 2015 heathered grey with black waistband/piping and subtle grapefruit & tranquil blue details. They’re the perfect balance of fun without being too IN YA FACE.

  2. Team 4″ as well on the SU. I hate the 2.5″. I’m only 5’3″ and they look like booty shorts, ugh. I wish they’d bring back the original Speeds and Run Times. I’m with you on missing the fun prints and contrasting details. Womp.

    1. Super late to the party due to previous Speed Short addiciton, so I’m currently curious about the Trackers as looser casual shorts to wear around. I got a pair of the 4″ Hi-Rise Hotty Hots and TBH they look boxy on me, so I’m still on the hunt for the next shorts obsession. Thankfully holding steady on the 4″ MR intake given that several colors I already own in Speeds, so I’m trying not to own *too* many near dupes.

  3. I’m surprised you didn’t feature the hyper flow print!! I’m also surprised this print hasn’t sold out yet. I bought the HR 2.5″ hotty hots in the print, and they are so cute in person. I’m normally not a HH person (or a 2.5″ person for that matter), but these are too cute to resist, and aren’t as short as the SU. Keeping the tags on in case this print makes an appearance in trackers *fingers crossed*

    1. I’ve had my eyes on it for sure, but I don’t love Hotty Hots – so I’ve been waiting to see if anything else drops that’s more my style! 🙂
