5 Faves & a Dud: Double the Fun

5 Faves & a DudAthletalululemon

While never formally diagnosed with ADHD, I sure as hell have trouble focusing a lot. Case in point, I wanted to get the charging cable for my ring light before I started this morning’s Zoom meeting marathon. By the time I STOOD UP FROM MY CHAIR, I’d forgotten why I stood up.

Welp, I’ve figured out the magic trick to focusing on actually finishing a 5FD post: turn on the evening news. Lululemon is way more interesting than listening to footage of politicians acting like catty 5th graders.

Now that I’ve figured out how to focus (for now), how about I include last week’s picks too?

5 Faves & a Dud: Last Week’s Picks

Favorite #1: Align Tank ($58) in Submarine

Jumping on the bandwagon because of the COLOR.

Favorite #2: Runderful Long Sleeve ($88) in Submarine

WE ALL WANNA WEAR A RULU SUBMARINE 🎵

Oooooh my Beatles covers need work.

Favorite #3: Swiftly Tech Racerback ($58) in Pink Highlight

I don’t literally NEED another tank top. But, I neeeeed this gorgeous bright tank top. So do you.

Favorite #4: All Aligned Mock Neck Turtleneck ($78) in Incognito Camo Multi Grey

Daylight is gone, meaning it’s time for me to dive back into my winter ninja uniform. I like to consider this a ‘colorful’ piece. 🙂

Favorite #5: Tracker Short V ($58) in Incognito Camo Multi Grey

The Dud: Break a Trail Pant ($228) in Incognito Camo Multi Grey

Highwaters for forging… high waters? At a SUPER high price? I like the idea of rugged hiking pants, but the short length looks like a bit of a miss for me. Perhaps smaller hikers and climbers can get on board with these!

NLR: Athleta Rainier Tight ($98)

Athleta KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK with their Rainier Tight last season. They are hands down my favorite cold weather run tight, and already I’ve pulled them out for frigid Colorado morning walks in recent weeks. Their Agate Purple? Simply beautiful. In addition to basic black, we’ve got:

The Rainier is thick without feeling bulky, warm without being sweaty, it’s a lot of things that I simply haven’t found with a lululemon tight. Solid colors not for you? They also brought it with both printed and reflective options:

For anyone curious on sizing, I’m 5’9″ and a size 10 in lululemon, and the Athleta M fits me perfectly!

5 Faves & a Dud: 10/27/20 Edition

Favorite #1: Runderful Long Sleeve ($88) in Deep Fuschia

Woooo Connecticut was the answer in Final Jeopardy! Woooo this color is pretty!

Favorite #2: Hold Tight Long Sleeve Wool ($68) in Submarine

I already went bananas with Night Diver and Deep Marine last fall, but these deep gem tones are tough to resist. 💙💚 I am beyond tempted, and have a gift card balance burning a hole in my online account roughly the same size as this price tag. Mwaahaha.

Favorite #3: Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve 2.0 ($78) in Wee Are From Space White

It’s rare for me to meet a horizontal stripe shirt that I don’t like. After getting the rainbow Swiftly LS I’m all for the striped knit in the 2.0. (Fun fact: there are still size 2’s left in rainbow!)

Want to save $9? Athleta has a near doppelgänger: Momentum Top Spacedye ($69)

Favorite #4: Wunder Train High-Rise Tight 25″ ($98) in Submarine

Am I annoying for picking *another* Submarine piece? Maybe. I’m going to spend the following week sitting on my hands and drooling over these while waiting for a submarine Invigorate Tight to upload. Now THAT would be the dream.

Favorite #5: Ebb to Train Bra ($68) in Iron Blue

Those of you who have been reading for a while know that I consistently pass right on over the Ebb to anything capsules. Welp, this piece is styled SO WELL that I can’t help but stop and throw a heart eyed emoji at this entire outfit. 😍

The Dud: Where Are My COVID Test Results?

Just a lil bit of a rant. As you know, I’m in an LDR and COVID doesn’t make moving freely about the country all that easy. With 80% of the country on the “maybe don’t go there” list right now, CT mandates a 14-day quarantine upon return from anywhere on the advisory list, unless you can produce a negative PCR test result within 72 hours before flying to CT, or after getting home.

I was stoked on BDL Airport announcing an on-site PCR testing program that promised results within 24 hours. Fly home Saturday, results Sunday, go to the office on Monday.

It’s Tuesday night. No results yet. I’m still here in my house, and it is a WINE-FREE ZONE on Bachelorette night. Yes, this is me whining that I have no wine to go with my cheese.

So many people have it far worse than I do. Shutting up now.

  1. I’ve never really consider the ebb to train bra, until I saw the iron blue version. Maybe it’s the color or the way it’s styled, but I’m on board too. It’s probably waay too much bra for my B cup, but I plan on using it for a workout top, not just a bra.

  2. I am HERE for the floral Rainier tight! I bought the reflective version last year and LOVE THEM. So much better than Lulu’s flurry tights that are way too long.

  3. THANK YOU for covering some Athleta items. I think I’m 50/50 on Lulu vs Athleta in my purchases, so it’s really great to see reviews for both. Yay!

    1. Of course! I actually like Athleta A LOT, but their online shopping experience isn’t as quick and seamless as lululemon’s. TBH their shipping speeds are a bit too slow for my impatient self, so with a store about 15-20min away, I often do my shopping with them in person.

Due to that, I admittedly fell off the Athleta wagon while everything was in major shutdown. I swear by their Raininers in cold weather, and their Sculptek jeans are the only ones I wear!
