Call me Britney because OOPS, I did it again. August into September has a history of knocking me off the blog train, and 2020 treated me no differently. The drafts folder houses a few failed attempts, but somehow I could never manage to just hit “Post” like a good (read: consistent) blogger should.
Having been off the grid for the better part of a month, I feel like I should at least catch everyone up. If you truly DGAF (and I don’t blame you if you don’t) click to jump ahead to the lululemon part.
But if you’re here for a life recap… grab a glass of wine or a bowl of popcorn, you may be reading for a bit.
Catching Up On: SeaWheeze Fitpics
I outlined my SeaWheeze Haul in a prior post, but in case you missed any of the fitpics which popped up in my IG stories here and there, here’s how the haul panned out:
Catching Up On: All the Other Sh*t I Bought
While I tried to take it down a notch after the SW blitz, the $30 GC that lulu gifted me after the lazurite F&F dye bled onto the WHITE COMFORTER IN MY ROOM after one wear didn’t last long. Here’s what else I ended up with while I was away:
- Pace Rival Skirt *Tall – Dark Prism Pink (Ultimately returned b/c PINK HIGHLIGHT)
- City Adventurer Backpack Nano – Pink Highlight/Cerulean Blue/Highlight Yellow
- Pace Rival Skirt *Tall – Pink Highlight
- Take it All In Sweater – Sunlight Yellow / WMTM, No photos b/c I haven’t worn it yet
- Secret Sock – Carnation Red / No photos bc um… nobody needs feet pics
Between the SeaWheeze deliveries and the other orders, the final week I was down in NY the nice gentleman who worked in the mailroom at my hotel took to joking with me about “what, you didn’t buy anything today?” 😂 I had to pause online orders for a week to make sure I was actually AT the receiving address, mmmkay?
Oh but there’s more. Purchasing resumed once I got home / went to the lulu outlet in Maine / got home again. With the fact he’d never been to Maine before and the promise of lobster rolls after, I persuaded Kyle to detour to the lululemon outlet with me on our first weekend together in MONTHS. Yes, he’s a keeper.
- Sheer Will LS Camo – Wild Bluebell (Kittery Outlet)
- Swiftly Tech LS Crew – White (Kittery Outlet) / RIP to the OG
- Swiftly Tech LS 2.0 – Black/Rainbow / Oh hello new friend I think we will be very happy together
OH AND LET THE RECORD STATE THAT THE ADORABLE BEACH PHOTO WAS HIS IDEA.
Catching Up On: Work/Life (Lack of) Balance
Many of you are somewhat aware that I work in sports broadcasting, and to say that our industry has been turned on its head has been an understatement. I personally work in Audio, Comms & RF for our remote events, am beyond grateful that our team has been busier than ever before. With so many more people working from home, Comms are undeniably critical to holding it all together. We’ve been firing on all cylinders to build, fax, ship, and install kits that allow announcers to call events from home, without the viewers at home noticing any drop in quality of the broadcasts.
It’s impressive. It’s awesome. It’s also a TON of ducks to keep in a row, and we have been going full speed ahead as more and more sports come back online. I honestly have not worked this hard in the 13 years I’ve been in the industry.
On top of the infrastructure part, sports returned to eerily empty venues, and I was right there in one working at the US Open tennis tournament. COVID testing up the nose once a week, daily health questionnaires and temperature checks, 6 feet of distance and masking required at all times, custom ordering individually packed food 3 days in advance. It was a strange one. It was also 70+ hours a week.
I was on the clock every single day from 8/10 to 9/17. Physical and mental energy were at an all time low. So, my extracurriculars fell way off: Fitness & Blogging. The cookies in catering were some of the best I’ve ever had. Combine the stress, the lack of energy and delicious Italian catering… the blog is down a lot of content and the scale says I’m up 8lbs. Whoops.
Here’s the fun part, though: I say that I’ve gained that much weight and nobody believes me. So, at least take solace that if you have a cheat week (or 4) and are feeling fluffy… odds are that NOBODY EVEN NOTICES. Do your mental health a favor and don’t beat yourself up over it. Make better choices tomorrow and move on.
I’m Tired From Reading that.
Me too. Thankfully, there was a light at the end of the tunnel, and 48 hours after getting home from a month on the road, I got to pick Kyle up from the airport for his first visit to CT. True story: I was so out of it that I managed to drive right past him at the airport the night I picked him up. Oops.
Vacationing in my own backyard was a bit weird, but showing someone I care about my favorite places helped me not to hate on where I live so much. I’ve been central CT forever, and sometimes it gets a bit too easy to complain about someplace that really isn’t all that bad.
I’m “running” the Wineglass Virtual Half Marathon this weekend. I am WILDLY unprepared for this, but my sister has been diligently training her ass off all summer to run her first ever race at this distance. So that’s what we’re gonna do. I’m disappointed that we won’t be able to share the FULL ON finish line experience together that we anticipated when signing up back in December. My fitness is dismal, but I’m not going to let her go it alone. I just hope she doesn’t beat me too bad. 🙂
Also, work is just as busy as it was before I shut it off for a week, but hey at least I get to sleep in my own bed and run safer routes again. Oh, and I’m back right here to say HI I MISSED YOU, it’s time to cruise a Tuesday upload and ramble on and on about…
5 Faves & a Dud: 9/29/20 Edition
NGL I chose a weak week to come back to. I was even thinking to myself “I SHOULD BUY ANOTHER SOMETHING” this week, but nothing that I like is *that* different from what I already own. So I’ll wait. For these things to hit WMTM. Maybe one day, a girl’s wallet can dream.
Favorite #1: All Aligned Mock Neck Long Sleeve ($78) in Black
I sit here and say to myself “I WOULD ROCK THIS”… picturing how much I love it when I wear the black long sleeved crop mock neck by lululemon that I already own.
I can’t remember the name because I bought it in 2016, but I already own a doppelganger. If the incognito camo multi grey version makes it to WMTM, I may cave.
Favorite #2: Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve 2.0 ($78) in Cerulean
This pick is from last week, but last week I brought Kyle to meet my Mom for the first time. Shirts were not at the forefront of my mind.
This would almost bite me in the ass when I saw the RAINBOW SWIFTLY uploaded last week while I was at dinner, but thankfully the restock fairy did her magic and I ended up with one after all.
Favorite #3: Wunder Under High-Rise Tight 28″ Brushed Full-On Luxtreme ($98) in Heritage 365 Camo Dark Olive Multi
Favorite #4: Drifting Tides Top Seersucker ($68) in Highlight Pink
Wasn’t expecting this kickass pink to make it into the swimwear lineup (in September no less) and I am here for it. Girl is absolutely CRUSHING this look.
Favorite #5: All Yours Hoodie Fleece ($108) in Grey Sage
Aaaaand I caved on Grey Sage fever. While I don’t think Grey Sage is all that great when it comes to tights (too light for my tastes), I have to admit that this hoodie looks insanely comfortable and could pair perfectly with the righ dark/medium wash denim.
The Dud: Runderful Long Sleeve ($88) in Heritage Camo Jacquard Silky White
Pink camo. Classic style or not… CAN WE NOT?
Forgotten Faves: 9/8/20
So I got as far as making picks a couple weeks back, but was lacking on the commentary. Tonight’s upload may not be blowing my skirt up too high, but looking back on some of these (HELLO cerulean Invigorates), it may be time to decide what I’m going to buy myself for my upcoming birthday. Nobody else is going to make a big deal out of 35, so I might as well at least get a new couch outfit.
- Free to be Bra Wild Peak ($58) in Highlight Yellow
- Like a Cloud Bra ($58) in Black
- Beyond the Studio Jogger ($118) in Black
- Invigorate High-Rise Tight 25″ ($128) in Cerulean Blue
- A New Route Skirt ($88)
- DUD: Fast and Free High Rise Tight 25″ Ice Dye ($138) in Ice Wash Hazel Green
