5 Faves & a Dud: 6/11/19 Edition

AthletaBrandslululemon

So I’m not sure if this is good or bad news for you this evening, oh faithful blog reader. I’m easily 3 sheets to the wind right now. Very professional much wow just kidding, but truth. Business dinners mean sometimes you’re buzzed on a Tuesday and admitting it to the internet when you should probably just shush about it. I ran 5 miles at lunch and got double veg/no starch with my entree, so… it all balances out. #LIBRA

5 Faves & a Dud: 6/11/19 Edition

Favorite #1: Lululemon Ignite Bra ($68)

When I saw a typical high-neck bra on the What’s New page, I’m not gonna lie, I clicked on it with bated breath. Would it be another criss cross mish mash of string? I expected as much, and was pleasantly proven wrong.

This bra reminds me of an Invigorate Bra, but with a flattering keyhole. Looks supportive, and I’m looking forward to hunting it down in store. Also available in black and cherry cola. Would much rather wear this than drink an actual cherry cola.

Favorite #2: Athleta A-C Hyper Focused Longline Bra ($54) in prism pink

Look at me keeping the long line bra train moving on down along the track. I’m in the mood for a little bubblegum pink.

Blame the fact that just a few days ago, on a Friday night in Chicago, the world was my oyster yet I opted to stay in my hotel room and forgo dinner so that I wouldn’t miss a single moment of Legally Blonde or Legally Blonde II, both of which I’ve seen multiple times before.

Hey Katy, what do you want to be when you grow up?

Reese Witherspoon.

Favorite #3: Arizona Sandal by Birkenstock ($100) in Icy Violet Metallic

This should be an instagram poll, probably, but I’m going to ask the question here. Are Birkenstocks back? In my increasingly elder age of 33 1/2 years, I have a growing appreciation for sensible footwear.

However, I am still young at heart and think blue/purple shiny objects are awesome unicorn things, so… yeah. I had some crazy bright teal Birks when I was a tweenager. Is she coming back?

Favorite #4: All the FUNFETTI-looking APLs that came into my inbox today

This afternoon, I was just chillin’ minding my business pricing out plane tickets for the Disney Wine & Dine 10K+Half Marathon weekend when this email came through. I quickly lost. my. MIND.

Screen Shot 2019-06-11 at 10.04.57 PM.png

Immediately screenshotted and sent off to my fellow APL-loving friend Paula in all caps going “LIME GREEEEEENNNNNN”. Bright colors are 100% my jam, and when I clicked through to see the soles are all multi-colored speckles… the only question I’m asking myself is which color of funfetti kicks will make me cave?

Favorite #5: Lululemon In Movement Tight ($98) in Bermuda Teal

So I haven’t seen it in person (yet), but I am inclined to say that Bermuda Teal is probably a shade or two brighter than Alberta Lake. They’re beautiful. Need I say more?

The full gamut of Bermuda Teal offerings now includes…

The Dud: Lululemon Monday Best Romper ($118) in Moonwalk

I’ll admit. There’s a bit of flattering action happening in the front, but the back is what kills the look for me. Frump city.

The front is feminine, drapey, and makes me think of how a super chill ballerina would hang out on her day off. Then, you turn around. The shorts go up a bit high in back, they’re an oddly long length. I envision this romper making me look wider than a house from the rear view. If I see it, I’ll try it. My fingers will be crossed that I’m wrong. I’m not so confident that I will be wrong.

Rant Rave Ramble

Of course I see a few things I like, but I am not going to make any wine-fueled purchases right this very second. Did my shopping cart get a few new additions this evening? Yes.

Will I follow through and purchase in the morning? TBD.

What about you?

  1. My daughter is 13 and bought Birkenstock’s with her birthday money. So yes…. they are back! But… no funky colors… she did not like the colorful ones.

  2. Abso-effing-lutely on the Birks. I bought a strappy black pair last year that cot constant wear, and I’m looking to pick up a pair of the ones you’re showing but in their copper/rose gold version. SO MUCH YES.

  3. Birks are definitely back. I have the T-strap ones in rose gold from last year, and just bought the black Mayari Birko-Flor strappy sandals this year from the REI sale.

No purchases for me this week – starting to save for Seawheeze! 🙂

    1. REI sale: GENIUS. I couldn’t think of anything to do with my discount, so I ended up getting a hot pink Hydroflask for my beer.

AGGHHH SeaWheeze – let the showcase FOMO begin!

    1. Their prices are kind of sort of bananas. Of the 3 pairs I own, I’m not sure I’ve paid full price for any of them. Every once in a while a promo code comes out. I’m going to try to be better about tweeting out random codes and sales as they hit my inbox that people may be interested in, but not necessarily worth the full on blog post recap treatment!

  4. Burks have been back for awhile.

I got the Athleta Conscious Crop when the yellow was still in stock, and now I’m stuck between getting another in a different color and that long line hyper focused bra. Or both bc I’m obsessed with my Athleta bras from the past year.
