Instagram post 17895697579416475 It’s Monday, here’s that SeaWheeze medal. Isn’t she pretty? 🤩
Instagram post 18073953982152966 Saturday morning shakeout run views. This weekend it’s time to shift the focus from fun to fast, but I’m still feeling a little bit off. Back to back race weekends in places nowhere near home can take a lot out of you, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m here, I’m happy, I’m healthy. (Above all, I’m grateful to be able to do this sort of thing, but that messes with the alliteration. Whomp.)
Instagram post 17842895704765885 Less than a week until I’m on the way to FL for the @rundisney Wine & Dine 10K and Half Marathon! I’m admittedly a little bit anxious about running the double course challenge with the Lululemon San Diego 10K just a week later, but excited to carb load around the world. 😋🌎

Food, Wine, Running... next weekend @waltdisneyworld will most definitely be the happiest place on earth. These ears and I are READY. ☺️
Instagram post 18036370522210858 These legs. I’m proud of what they’ve done for me in the last 7 days.
•
Friday morning, they accidentally threw down the third fastest 10K I’ve ever run. 24 hours later, they showed up and ran a “practice” half marathon in 2:11:57, hitting negative splits while they were at it. I gave them a day off, and got back to training on Monday.
•
Five more miles in the can yesterday, so I had no idea how moving my tempo run up a day would work out this morning.
•
The warmup miles felt meh and expectations were low. After a quick shoe change (oozy blisters & white shoes don’t mix), my goal was 4 miles in 9:45/9:35/9:25/9:15. Instead, I got a 9:24/9:10/8:57/8:26. Average tempo pace? 8:58.
•
I’ve only ever hit the 9:05/4mi on a treadmill in the three years I’ve been making noise about wanting to go sub-2:00 in the half marathon. Never before without mechanical assistance.
•
Often times I think about “if” I can break two hours, but now I feel a hell of a lot more comfortable with talking about WHEN.
Instagram post 17851645156621659 Long runs are more fun when there’s bling and beer at the finish line. 🏅🍺 This weekend wasn’t meant to be a PR race, so it wasn’t. That means I had a bit of freedom to try things the scaredy cat in me wouldn’t dare risk 12 weeks of training for.
•
I kept my watch on lap setting and didn’t look at my overall time once. No clue a 2:11:57 would be the end result until I crossed the finish line. Took it one mile at a time.
•
For years I’ve envied how my run coach could just toe a half marathon start line like it’s NBD without a phone, headphones, or water. Today I did just that, and never regretted that decision for a single moment on course. @hmf_events had it covered.
•
Oh, and I ran in a crop top. The world didn’t end. I got zero funny looks or comments, something that many women fear will happen if they wear something they feel cute in, but are worried they’re not thin enough to wear.
•
Usually the clock is my nemesis on these half marathons, but today I got to play around in the sandbox a bit and realize that even though it’s October, some of the “scary” things aren’t really that scary after all. 👻🎃
Instagram post 18031140268209199 2019 #SeaWheeze haul, WELCOME HOME! 🤩 @krudz85 you da real MVP for allowing me to eat up half of your 10 item limit at this year’s Showcase and then taking good care of said haul for the last 6 weeks. That’s friendship right there.
Instagram post 17856173440548078 Will run for ice cream in ice cream shoes.🍦😋 // @brooksrunning #runhappy

In case you also feel like running around a deserted soccer field in a cute little running dress this weekend, you can now score said @lululemon Serene Stride Dress for half of what I paid for it. #WMTMAlert is live on AthletiKaty.com, and this isn’t the only good-looking piece that’s marked down! #linkinbio ⚽️
Instagram post 17860820923486100 I virtually shopped, I virtually cheered, and thanks to @lululemon I was also able to virtually participate in one of my favorite weekends of the year: SeaWheeze! 🥳 Timing of both business travel and the Vancouver festivities didn’t jive this year, so I was thrilled when a virtual run option was added. Figured it would help the FOMO not run so deep.

I’m happy that I was able to deliver a strong 13.1 performance at RnR back in June, because since then my training has been more like a “do what you can when you can”, as opposed to a structured plan. So, this morning, as soon as the sun rose I was off running who knows how many laps in the park before work to finish my first ever virtual half marathon.

I ran for fun, not time, so I was able to stop and capture some scenery without feeling guilty this go around. Now it’s time to inhale some ice cream, no guilt about that either.

Oh, and because the medal won’t arrive in the mail for 6-10 weeks, I treated myself to a giant pink tennis ball as my prize because #treatyoself
