This week’s goal? Damage control.
Week 5 was ROUGH. Playoffs were taking a toll, so I did a little bit of “fuck it” and threw in the towel toward the weekend. My body was fighting back for a reason in the earlier days, so figured… why not listen? This week, it’s time to take a bunch of sweaty steps in the right direction in one of the oddest places to go for a morning run… the Las Vegas Strip.
SeaWheeze 2026 Training: Week 6 of 16
MON 5/25 • Day 36: Vegas 5.36 Easy (6 Rx)
On the Road: Las Vegas, NV
First off… CORRUPTION! Easy 5mi on the strip, but for the first time ever, my watch corrupted the file so it never uploaded to Strava 🥺

For those of you who have not been to Vegas, the Strip is quite wide and has very few street-level crosswalks in the busiest section. To keep things moving, crosswalks are pedestrian bridges elevated ~2 stories off the ground, requiring stair/escalator/elevator access.
This morning, I decided to take a video of every last set of stairs I had to negotiate on my round trip from the Park MGM and Fontainebleau. Even sped up 3x, my original edit was still almost 2:30 long. That’s a lot of fcking stairs.
I know the world has divided opinions on AI glasses. I only wear mine for the sake of content capture when out for a run, especially when I’m in unexpected places, like on the Vegas Strip at 7am. It’s an easy way to capture a first-person POV to share all the random places I can find a mile or 5 over the course of my travels.

TUE 5/26 • Day 37: REST: R3G4 Vegas
Western Conference Final, Game 3: Colorado Avalanche @ Vegas Golden Knights

All y’all who think working in TV is glamorous, let’s hang out under a mobile unit trying to troubleshoot a moody computer when it’s 100 degrees out, and then swing back inside where it’s FREEZING and then do it all day long.
WED 5/27 • Day 38: Vegas 4.17 Easy (7 Rx)
On the Road: Las Vegas, NV

The problem with cutting corners on a run is that once you do it, you find yourself doing it again, and again. I didn’t start this one until 7a, which is a bit late in the grand scheme of Vegas. I ran until my water bottle was empty and then said fuck it.
4 freestyle is better than no miles. WCF and some germs really knocked me off my cadence, but getting some movement in is (almost) always better than skipping the day entirely ☺️

THU 5/28 • Day 39: Short HGW (Procrastination Station)
Vegas took an unexpected broom to Colorado, so it was back to tolerable CT temps. Didn’t have much energy for a run, but a walk… I got this.

All was well until I rounded the corner to find a massive grove of trees was cut down by stupid land developers on part of my loop while I was away. 🥺

FRI 5/29 • Day 40: Tempo 2
Warm up: 1.5mi (10:15mi+) > 2mi (8:55/mi) + 150s Walking Rest > 1.5mi Cool Down

Done fumbled the execution on that one and Garmin knows it… the 43% execution score might be a new PR on walk/stretch/bathroom/general disinterest breaks 💁🏼♀️🏆
I went outside, didn’t I?

SAT 5/30 • Day 41: REST: Weather Wuss
I don’t even have a single photo on my camera roll from 5/30, save for one screenshot of Runna telling me that I am fast (lol) and it wants to adjust my paces. This was the first time it ever made a suggestion, so I had to mark the occasion.

SUN 5/31 • Day 42: Long Run 10mi
NEW SHOE DAY: Asics Superblast 3
Officially back in the double digits! TBH my brain needed that more than my body did. I’m not gonna call this a “we are so back” moment, it’s more like… glad that I’m not as far gone as I thought I was. 😌

It was a risky decision to take new shoes for a 10-mile run, but they felt cushy enough that I went for it. Thankfully, the decision worked out in my favor. They are like running on fun technicolor pilloes, if you’re into that sort of thing.
