#SeaKatyWheeze: Week 11 Training Recap

FitnessRunningSeawheezeTraining Logs

Is it possible to be both frantic and a zombie at the same time? Because that’s where I’m at in life. Crazy busy but brain is melty at the same time. The only thing I’d like to be melty in my presence right about now is spinach artichoke dip.

Week 11 was the last chance I had at being home and training ‘normally’ before the work monster rolled into Katytown and took the F over.

#SeaKatyWheeze: Week 11

Day 71 – Sunday 8/5

Rest Day

Sunday was one of those days where it’s a ‘rest’ on paper, but the reality is that I worked for 16 hours. Long run? HA YOU CUTE. Nope.

Day 72 – Monday 8/6

ROMWOD + Long(ish) Run – 8mi

It was time for another scheduled drop in the long run category – it took me until Monday afternoon to finally do what I wasn’t able to on Saturday or Sunday.

It was 95 degrees out, so I made sure to Goldilocks my effort. I wanted to push myself, but at the same time I had to be smart with the high temp, direct sunlight and 8 million percent humidity. Despite the conditions, I ran happy.

Day 73 – Tuesday 8/7

ROMWOD + Run 3mi HR<145

Monday helped to put me back on track with training. Because I’d just gone ‘long’ the day before, I went with the welcome reprieve a heart rate run.

Day 74 – Wednesday 8/8

ROMWOD + CrossFit

G0017431-4
Love me some pigeon in the morning.

WOD
100 Double Unders
20 OH Squats 35lbs
100 Double Unders
20 OH Squats 65lbs
100 Double Unders
20 OH Squats 65lbs (4 at 85 Rx until it was slowing me down too much)

Dubs yay! OH Squats? My body was like um no f*cking way, cute that you tried tho. I was driving the struggle bus hard at the end of this workout, and Coach Justin was screaming “YOU CAN FINISH!” “COME ON!” and still, amidst the sweat dripping into my eyes and struggle to grip the barbell, the Michael Scott in me still managed to…

“That’s what she said.” 😀

Day 75 – Thursday 8/9

ROMWOD + Run 6.25mi / 8x400m UPHILL

Holy ouch Batman. This week featured speed instead of tempo, and it HURT.

Day 76 – Friday 8/10

Long ROMWOD

I’m old, so training hard 5 days in a row isn’t the best look on me. I got my first day off from over a week and was able to dedicate the full hour to ROMWOD in the morning.

Clearly having the time of my life.

After a day full of chores and catching up on life before I flew the coop again, I sat home, ate pizza and laughed my rear end off at whatever was on Netflix that night.

Day 77 – Saturday 8/11

Run 3mi

Seems like Saturdays are supposed to be long run days for me, but they always end up getting shoved off for one reason or another. This week I got three in as I tried to race the rain. Saturday’s forecast was a washout.

I couldn’t bear the thought of not working out for two consecutive days. At 8:45a I shot out of bed and did my best to get a few miles in before the massive blob on the radar moved its way into town. My mindset on this one was discombobulated to say the least. I started out hot thinking maybe I’d get a few 9:40’s in… but I legitimately bonked after 1 mile, and turned the rest into a HR slog.
