AthletiKated: a Week in Workouts

Training Logs

I am *such* a fluffing softy, in a few ways. I’ve taken eons to write this post, because I’ve had the guiltiest pleasure of mindless TV on Netflix in the background – Freeform’s Young & Hungry. It’s so cheesy, asiago’s got nothing on this show. Alas, here I am getting all excited when Gabi & Josh get back together for the umpteenth time. I’m a 15 year old girl sometimes, I know.

ANYHOW, now that I’ve ruined all tough gal street cred with that admission, I’m also a softy because I work out… sometimes. Not a lot. But, sometimes. I’m fluffy.

Sunday 11/19/17

Open Gym

5 Rounds:
250m Row
14 Power Snatches 55lbs
12 Burpees Over Bar
10 Box Jumps
250m Row
Rest 3 minutes

Every once in a while, I’ll see a CrossFit athlete post a WOD on instagram and bookmark it for Open Gym when I’m at a complete loss for what to do with myself. Colleen Fotsch posted this one last month, and aside from scaling the snatches from 75 to 55lbs in the name of barbell cycling, did it as written. Spicy! This chipper took me something like 40 minutes to complete.

Monday 11/20/17

Strict Shoulder Press 10×1 @ 90-95% – 75lbs

15min AMRAP
9 Toes to Bar
12 Shoulder to Overhead 75lbs
15 Box Jumps
Result: 6 Rounds + 6 T2B

The T2B felt like a million bucks, hooray! Was able to kid together at least 5 in each round before resorting to dead hang doubles. Also stoked that earlier in the class I didn’t fail any strict presses. I suck at those.

Tuesday 11/21/17

Accidental Rest Day

I meant to hit the 5:30 WOD, but that’s tough to do when an all-afternoon meeting goes until 7pm. Work happens.

Wednesday 11/22/17

Run 6mi

Opposite of the day before, I got out of work early! Impatient to wait for CrossFit o’clock, I bundled up and took advantage of daylight and managed to get a not-so-quick 6-miler. Brrrrrr!

Thursday 11/23/17

Happy Thanksgiving! I should have run in the morning. I didn’t. I went to my Dad’s house and ate donuts instead.

Friday 11/24/17

Run 5K

Yeah yeah yeah, you all ran Turkey Trots the day before and plastered your race photos all over social media to make sure I knew how sad of a lazy sack of potatoes I was on Thursday. So, I ran a 5K on my own before driving 6 hours to Upstate NY to assuage my completely self-imposed guilt.

Saturday 11/25/17

Rest Day

Too busy watching Syracuse (my alma mater) lose to Boston College (my Father’s & Sister’s alma mater) live and in person.

What Do You Think?
