Full disclosure that I’m backdating the hell of out of these posts. It’s August 2nd and I’m sitting here attempting to remember workouts I did back in April. Might not be as wordy in some of these earlier posts if the workouts weren’t memorably good (or bad).

We’re still in Round 1 of NHL playoffs, and after Carolina kicked Ottawa out to the golf course, I headed up to Montreal to get my annual Canadian fix. Nice town. Their bagels are weird.

Sadly, Edmonton didn’t fare so well; I didn’t get to work at least one Oilers game this season. Streak broken.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Traveled 4592 miles this week. Spent time in 3 cities, 2 countries, 4 days on the move, and 3 hotel nights.

SeaWheeze 2026 Training: Week 2 of 16

MON 4/27 • Day 8: Easy 3.5mi + HGW

Easy eaaasy with some walk breaks mixed in to keep the HR within reason. Need to move hybrid long run day up in the week, so I decided to do what I could to stay as “fresh” as possible (a very loose interpretation of the word).

WED 4/29 • Day 10: Progression Long Run 9mi

3mi Warmup + 3mi @ 10:00/mi (9:52-9:50-9:54) + 2mi @ 9:25/mi (9:23-9:17) + 1mi Cooldown

Went into this week’s spiciness with low expectations and two legs that felt like sandbags. 😵‍💫

To my own surprise, that went far better than expected – I did not have high hopes when the early birds outside my window started chirping their heads off at 5:30a.

After 3 full hours of procrastination, I finally sent it.

HUZZAH!

Nothing like 9 miles on a random Wednesday morning to make you realize that 4 years of marathon training has totally normalized 9 miles on a random Wednesday morning. I had 0 expectation of that workout going as well as it did.

THU 4/30 • Day 11: Strength

On the Road: Montreal, QC

What several years of training has taught me is that there’s a difference between “brain doesn’t want to” and “body literally can’t” and it’s a fiiine line.

Did I wake up at 3:30a to catch a flight? Yes. Did I want to get any sort of workout in when I got to my hotel? No, but I did it anyway.

Brain didn’t want to, body totally could. Proud of getting my arse down to the gym for an hour instead of mainlining macarons & champagne to the face.

(Don’t worry… I had 2 as recovery snack)
