5 Faves & a Dud: So Fresh & So Clean

“Ain’t nobody dope as me, I’m just so fresh & clean” – what lululemon wants you to say after you give their new Selfcare line a try. I initially posted about it back in April, and this morning, upload came early (huzzah!), with the fancy soap front and center.

5 Faves & a Dud: 6/18/19 Edition

I’ll get to the Selfcare options in a little bit, but first let’s focus on the fun stuff that caused me to hit the add to cart button this week. I did not check out, of course, because expensive. Most of upload featured dim and white shades, but we’ve got some happy pops of color.

Favorite #1: Fast & Free Short 6″ Non-Reflective ($68) in Jet Stream

Jet stream has to be one of my all-time favorite colors from lululemon. While they rolled up a bit when I did a mile for time at CrossFit a couple weeks ago, my black pair has stayed put for jogging and anything else CF threw at me that day. I love these, and as long as I’m not trying to break any personal land speed records in them, they’re one of lulu’s best ideas in a long time.

Favorite #2: Scuba Hoodie *Light Cotton Fleece ($118) in Vivid Amber

This color is just so bright and happy, and homegirl is working. IT! I haven’t gotten a new Scuba since 2016 (I only own two), but this bright shade is one that I don’t own ANYTHING in, so if I splurge, I’ll justify it in my head as something completely new and different.

Favorite #3: By the Bay Skimpy One Piece ($128) in Dark Red

I don’t know where to start with how much I love this swimsuit. The tan lines may not be the best, but not only can you swim in it, simply throw a cute skirt or pair of shorts over it and WHAMMO you are ready for a night out on vacation. It’s also available in black.

Favorite #4: Wunder Under High-Rise Tight *Engineered Full-On Luxtreme 28″ ($98) in Tribal Pace Wunder Under White Black

It’s all about the angles on these. I’m not sure I’ll pick them up, because I don’t have too many yoga-ish activities to wear them to that I can’t already cover with the umpteen other options in my pants catalogue.

If you’re digging the print but can’t bring yourself to commit, you can pick up an On the Beat Belt Bag in this same pattern to jazz up a simple outfit. Or… if you can’t even bring yourself to wear it – travel stylishly with the Sun Up Sun Down Pouch.

Favorite #5: Invigorate Bra ($52) in Breezy

I haven’t picked up a new Invigorate in a while, and I feel like I could get a lot of mileage out of a baby blue like Breezy. I get a lot of mileage anyway. #runnerjoke

The Dud: Adam Selman Sport French Cut Legging ($125) in watermelon

Taking it on over to Carbon38 for this week’s facepalm. IMHO, C38 appears to cater more to the “instagram model” crowd, so I don’t always click open their emails. But, this morning I did. Somehow I ended up looking at a collection abbreviated and referred to as A.S.S. (classy, amirite), and found this terrible mess.

I know the 90’s are back with the high waists and high cut swimsuits. But why. This watermelon is a phenomenal color, but you literally can’t get any more VPL than this. The seams kind of hide out in the black/rose option, but the watermelon solid and mesh options ought to be yanked offstage with a giant nope rope ASAP. Terrible horrible no thank you very much.

From the Soap Box

For once, my soap box reference can be considered punny! Lululemon Selfcare makes its debut this week, and I’m happy to see that some products are being offered in Full and Travel sizes for those who may not want to commit $$$ to a product that hasn’t had time to build up a reputation yet.

Price points seem on par with what you’re going to pay at Sephora or Ulta.

It’s worth noting that both Women and Men are featured in the photos for some of the products. The Basic Balm and Moisturizer don’t appear to be scented, so these products are engineered to benefit both male and female athletes alike. The only thing I can think of that are really M/W are the two differing scents of deodorant. I don’t personally feel black pepper is my signature scent, but I can get down with Aloe Lotus.

Patterns of the Week

We’re looking at two light-colored patterns featured this week, Tropical Shadow Starlight Multi and Wee Are From Space Sheer Blue Chambray.

The tropical one is like a suuuuuper faded piece of resortwear. Gives it some texture, as opposed to 100% white. Options include:

Wee Are From Space Sheer Blue Chambray is exactly as it sounds. The blue is very neutral, and overall anything in this pattern is going to be a pastel from far away.

Seeing Red

Took me a few minutes trying to decide which gorgeous red one piece was going to make the top 5. At the end of the day, the color is what matters most. If the cap sleeved option isn’t your style, there are quite a few options to choose from.

Easy Breezy

Breezy also uploaded in fourother styles if my Invigorate pick doesn’t invigorate you:

What Else?

I can’t stop thinking about the Vivid Amber Scuba. What has everyone else got their eye on this week? Also, please tell me I’m not nuts about that Carbon38 dud. It’s terrible, right?

RIGHT?!
