Fit Review: lululemon Electric Lemon Align Pant & Groove Super-High-Rise Flared Pant

Ooooh it’s time for a blog post with embarrassing squat test photos! The type of squat test photos that don’t go on the gram because way too many coworkers follow me over there.

Sizing Notes: I’m 5’9″ – in lululemon, I am a TTS 8 on top and a 10 on the bottom.

lululemon Align™ High-Rise Pant 25″ ($98) in Electric Lemon

I only chose to try these on to see how sheer they were. Several lighter colors are double lined, and these are no exception, I was hoping that would make a difference.

TIP: How to tell if a particular pair of Align Pants are double-lined? There will be a seam along the outside of the leg.

Lighter colors don’t always do me the most favors, so I didn’t set my bar that high. However, I loved how brilliant Electric Lemon is, and had half a mind to bring them home anyway. Had to bend over though, Blogger’s Code.

The Squat Test: Despite double layering, you can still tell that the rip tag is there.

It doesn’t come across in the photos, but I was also wearing black underneath, which you could tell in person. This is a friendly reminder to all who wear brightly colored bottoms of any style, that you can’t wear pink, black & turquoise cheetah print and think double lining will quite literally CYA. Be mindful of this, and always choose neutrals in this scenario!

TL:DR

Likes: They look snaaaaazzy
Dislikes: Must pick undergarments carefully
Sizing: True to Size
Did I buy it? No
Why Not? I’m a dirt magnet

Groove Super-High-Rise Flared Pant Nulu ($98) in Charged Indigo

I grabbed these with intention of trying them as a joke. I WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO LIKE THEM.

My hand’s covering my mouth in these photos is because I was not supposed to like them. I went in for a laugh at how I’d look trying to keep up with trends at 36, even if it meant going back in a time machine (but this time with the disposable income to afford whatever the cool girls are wearing).

TL:DR

Likes: Fabric, Super high waist – tall women rarely find HR options to cover our belly buttons
Dislikes: None, but dirt magnet anxiety
Sizing: True to Size
Did I buy it? Not at first…
Why Not? Told myself I didn’t need them. They’re fun, but where would I wear them?

Grooves for Grandma

TW: this is going to take a little bit dark but absolutely meaningful turn. A day or two after I’d tried these on, I was visiting my Grandmother, and showed her the photos and how fun I thought these pants were. We were in friendly disagreement on the pants.

Me: Aren’t these so cool?

Grandma: No.

That ended up being the last time we hung out together before she passed away a few days later.

She may not have liked them, but they will always remind me of her. I ended up going back and buying the pants after all. 💜
