5 Faves & a Dud: I’m Bored(eaux)

5 Faves & a Dudlululemon

This brain of mine, it’s not working so well today. Neurons have reached firing capacity! Blame the College Football Playoff. Any sports fans out there? I spent the evening watching all the feeds from work, and didn’t get home until 1:00a.

For those of you who are in the ‘ew, sports’ camp, you missed out on a fantastic finish. The first half of the game, my attention was divided between email and thinking Bama was going to make this a boring blowout, much as Clemson had done with Ohio State. But then, things got interesting in the second half. For those who did watch, THAT FOURTH QUARTER THO. That’s what ratings are made of. That’s also what really f*cked over the Vegas bookies. Heh. I like a good underdog story, and it’s nice to see an ACC team take the title.

Want. This. Shirt!

Good thing that we had last night’s game to get riled up over, because at first look this week’s upload is a snoozer. I instantaneously bought the strive multi Speeds last week, and just took the tags off for CrossFit tonight. Having not added a pair of Speeds to my closet since Seawheeze (I think), it was an exciting day.

Last week I went to California and West Virginia. UC Berkeley’s campus is drop dead gorgeous. Sorry, WVU. Yours not as much. Plus, 6 degrees? Not cool. Downright frigid.

5 Faves & a Dud – 1/10/17 Upload

Favorite #1: Simply Bare Cropped Long Sleeve ($78) in black

Since snapping up that cropped Hill & Valley Mock Neck Crop Top right before the new year, I have new enthusiasm for this layerable style. None so enthusiastic for the full price, though. I’ll patiently wait for this one to make its way to WMTM.

Favorite #2: Wunder Under Crop Hi-Rise ($88) in score jacquard black polar pink

TBD if I fold like a napkin in a continued effort to spend less $ on lulu in 2017 than I did in 2016 (I managed to cut the spend by 27% in 2016 from 2015!)… but these score jacquard patterns are making it tough to hold steady. Printed luxtreme is lame, but woven luxtreme is usually perfectly compressive and flattering.

Has anyone tried any of the score jacquards on? Are they really as awesome as I have a feeling they may be?

Favorite #3: Energy Bra ($52) in bordeaux drama

Classic design in a classic color that never disappoints. Playing it safe, but playing it well.

Favorite #4: Get Ready Jacket ($128) in hero blue

Windproof? Waterproof? Miserable weatherproof? I’ll take it. I can’t help but feel like her blue is a flattering hue on everyone, so that’s why hero blue is edging out black. I hate to use the generic term of ‘cute’ to describe this sporty little piece, but that’s what it is.

Favorite #5: Energy Bra ($52) in polar pink

What? Another Energy Bra? Have I no imagination? NO… I have plenty of that. It’s the minds behind upload this week that aren’t giving me much to work with, so yes. Another Energy Bra. Don’t lie, you think it’s pretty too.

The Dud: Locarno Turtleneck ($68) in dark carbon

The dishonor of the week has been determined on account of guilt by association. Have I seen this top in person? Nope. Have I heard of anyone’s try-on reports? Nope. Have I tried on the Locarno LS? Yes… and I didn’t like it. I can only imagine the turtleneck is made of the same cheap-feeling fabric that the Locarno LS is, so it’s an automatic pass for me.

Aside from the score jacquard WUCs, nothing has even tempted me to hover over the ‘add to cart’ button. I shouldn’t complain about that. Less money spent on lulu means more money for the 2017 vacation fund to TBD. Whee!

  1. I am loving the score jacquard items as well, and honestly can’t pick favorite color among all the iterations (teal, blue, pink). I loved the run it out tight from last week in this fabric, and now there’s high times, hi rise WUC, and inspire tights to make me lust even more. I don’t think any of these will sell out anytime soon, so I can sit back and think about about them for a bit. Maybe a store try on is needed. I’ll report back what I find when that happens!

  2. So glad you enjoyed Berkeley! 🙂

I grabbed the new merino wool Rising Salutation sweater in the Heathered Vapor color (what is that color name?). We just booked a trip to Spain in March, and I had this vision of wearing that sweater with skinny jeans and chelsea boots eating tapas… lol. We’ll see if I like it for $128 when it arrives.

PS. Sounds like the fabeled online warehouse sale might be on for Thursday…

  3. I disagree with you about the Get Ready Jacket. For a wind proof and water repellent jacket it should have a higher neckline when zipped up and it should at least have thumbholes. This jacket is being marketed as a jacket to wear when windy or rainy but lacks features to make it a truly comfortable jacket to wear in these weather conditions.
